Celtic Green Man Foliate Mask Wall Plaque Leaf Man Dryad
Found in many cultures around the world, the Green Man is often related to natural vegetative deities in different cultures throughout the ages. Primarily it is interpreted as a symbol of rebirth, or "renaissance," representing the cycle of growth each spring. Also know as Leaf Man or Jack in the Green, the image of the Green man is one of the few symbols from pagan religions that crossed over to Christianity intact, as the image is found on hundreds of churches throughout Europe.
This wall plaque depicting the Green Man is from Dryad Designs and artist Paul Borda. It is a cold cast resin replica of the original, which took over 300 hours to complete. The plaque stands 16 1/4 inches tall, is 12 1/2 inches wide, and is 3 inches deep. The Green Man's is made up entirely of foliage, yet he still gives a toothy grin. It is finished to give it the appearance of stone.
